...since it's same conclusion that the studies come to whenever they look at it, but apparently the lower your IQ and/or education, the more likely you are to hold...drum roll...prejudiced and conservative beliefs, often beliefs shrouded in "faith" while being devoid of fact. The new part of the study is that the only thing that really works so far as getting those who subscribe to ignorant and prejudiced beliefs to look objectively at reality and accept that they may not actually *know* schit is to show them compassion and take care with their feelings while sharing the scary thing the rest of us call "reality" with them. It said that making fun of them and pointing and laughing doesn't work...but I'm still going to do it...it's way more fun. http://www.politicususa.com/en/conservatism-stupidity-racismFish on... Todd

Kind of like so many other studies that tell us what we already knew.

Remember your logic classes - not all blue items are round but almost all round item are blue. If you don't get this keep thinking. If you just can't figure it out chances are you are a round one.

Or put another way: Not all conservatives are stupid, racist morons... but all stupid, racist morons are conservative.

4Salt and Todd have it pretty much nailed. Notice the silence of the lambs/sheep.

It is this kind of divisiveness that leads us into the current political climate that we are in now. Thanks for taking the low road and continuing be a part of the problem.
Two studies from the UK are supposed to be the support for this, really? This is what you base your argument on? Taking this article from the source you got it from makes as much sense as someone who is a "racist moron" using articles from Fox news as the basis for an argument.
It is nothing more than creative name calling. You guys are better than that.

Sad we get a liberal circle jerk on something so stupid. Reminds me of the "studies" stating blacks and hispanics were inferior. Those would be shouted down by the same group in the circle jerk. Change the target they stand around patting each others butts on the great find. Pretty sad.

During the Bush Administration even those within the Administration discussed the "reality based contingent", meaning their opponents, and the "faith based contingent", meaning their supporters...and noted that inflaming their supporters with factually unsupportable claims was the best way to keep themselves in power.
It hasn't really changed.
Watch the debates and watch those clowns working their asses off to see who can be the most inflammatory, the most angry, the most bigoted...and the most "conservative".
They know they can't win on the facts, so they don't even bother trying.
Those with actual conservative beliefs are the ones really getting screwed...they don't even have a party at all...their party has been co-opted by racists, idiots, and other assorted "patriots".
Fish on...

Considering even most right wing politicians refer to "my reality" as that pesky "reality based reality", I'm not too worried about it.

Without even going into the myth of "trickle down economics", aka "Reaganomics", aka "fuckin disaster"...on matters of sociology, biology, psychology...they just make it all up.
Facts? Who needs facts?
If we can find someone or something else to blame it on...well, that's all the facts we need.
Abstinence only education?
Only gays get AIDS?
Jesus rode on dinosaurs?
Birthers?
Death Panels?
WMD's?
The war on drugs?
The war on Terrah?
Immigration?
That's just a short and quick list of some of the things that most Republican voters are flat out wrong about, in spite of many facts and studies that should direct them at least in the direction of the truth.
They don't like the truth, because the truth tells them that they just might be part of what is making their lives so sad and pathetic...for the "personal responsibility" party supporters, they sure like it when it's someone else's fault, especially if that person is poor, gay, black, brown, yellow, orange, green, has a college degree, is a scientist, or just a person who is generally well-read and uses facts and logic in their arguments...the so-called "intellectuals".
It's far more fun to just be stupid and angry...and that's why you see the Republican Clownfest pandering to the stupid and angry...they know who their base is...just because their supporters don't use logic or facts in coming up with their opinions doesn't mean the politicians using them and pandering to them don't.
Fish on...

The thing is Todd, I agree with almost everything you said in your last post. The parts I don't agree with is the constant name calling, the use of a few studies from the UK to base that off of, and stating that most republicans believe that BS. That's just too much of a generalization.
There are a lot of vocal whackos in the R ranks. Unfortunately a few, like Santorum, have apparently risen to the top. We are in total agreement there.

Here's my thoughts on it...
Those who wanted the Republicans to be in power let it happen. The morons, bigots, and flat out fruitcakes on the extreme right were let in, and the muckety-mucks thought "hey, we can just let them think we agree with those fruitcakes, so long as they vote for us"...
Now, there's so many of them that the Republicans *must* have them in order to win an election.
If you are a conservative and/or vote Republican, then these are your compatriots...these are the guys that you depend upon to get your candidates elected...you can no longer do it without them.
Now I think most of the Republican candidates, even if they pander to these idiots and bigots, don't really believe the crap they have to say in order to get their votes...but, unfortunately, some actually do believe it, and now they have the base to get to positions of real power.
In comes McConnell, Palin, Cain, Perry, Santorum...these people are not just fruitcakes, but most of them are certifiably crazy, too...yet, there they are, right on top of the Republican heap.
The Republicans who let those morons and bigots keep saying what they were saying without stopping them are the ones who are to blame. They danced with those morons so that they could get their votes, and now they are married to them.
Only the complete destruction of the Republican Party will be able to get rid of them, unfortunately...I can't think of any other way.
The patients are running the nuthouse.
Andy, I know you and Hank personally, have hung out plenty of times with both of you, and clearly I don't think either of you are morons or bigots...but where were you guys when the Republican Party was letting those nutjobs into the fold?
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" sounds great on paper...but that's how we ended up with Osama bin Laden and a dozen other puppet dictators around the world that don't like us much after a few years.
We saw what happened with OBL...he turned on the USA, 9/11 happened, and now he's dead.
The TeaBaggers are turning on the Republican Party now...will the Republican Party have enough fortitude to demand the morons and bigots either shape up or ship out? Will they demand that their candidates denounce those jackasses, or will they continue to watch a debate full of clowns take turns arguing over who is the most like them?
This is a real turning point for the Republican Party...either they fully embrace the nutcases and be the Tea Party, or they dump them and take a few years to re-build a political party full of conservative thinking, but not moronic and bigoted voters and candidates?
I think they'll continue to be co-opted by the 'Baggers...and things like facts, logic, and "intellectuals" (i.e., thinkers) will be further pushed right out of the picture.
Fish on...
Todd

You forgot Michelle Bachman. The thing is Todd, I've never been a Democrat, or Republican. Never will be. I have, however, regretted regretted voting for governors and presidents from both parties. I would like to think that there are more folks out there who lean to the left or the right given what is going on in the nation at any one time than just solidly, and blindly, follow whatever their party says.
